You can use refrigerated sugar cookie dough, if you want. I won’t judge you at all. But, I think they are far better when you make sugar cookie bars from scratch. I adapted this recipe from Sally’s Baking addiction. Again, giving credit where credit is due, I used this cream cheese frosting recipe.

  2. Cream the butter, and add in sugar.
  3. Once nice and smooth, add in a whole egg, yolk, and almond extract.

My littlest sous chef helped me by adding some spooky accents, in the form of these super fun gummies (Find them here, herehere or a similar assortment here). Spooky and Sweet, these sugar cookie bars are perfect for your Halloween party!

An unlikely combo? Yes. But the flavor? Wicked-good.Spooky and Sweet, these sugar cookie bars are perfect for your Halloween party!

How long can you store these sugar cookie bars?

These sugar cookie bars will store on the counter for 2-3 days, and up to a week in the refrigerator. I do not recommend freezing frosted cookies, since that will change the texture of the frosting.

If you want to make them ahead of time, simply bake the sugar cookie bars, then freeze unfrosted. When ready to serve, allow to thaw at room temperature for 2 hours, then add frosting.
