Trash to Treasure: Ceramic House Night Light

Christmas Houses turned Girly Night Lights

Today’s post is a a simple trash-to-treasure thrift upcycle. When I spotted these old Party Lite ceramic houses at the thrift store, I saw potential and snapped them up. But now, I’m second guessing my plan and need your crafty/decor advice!Trash to Treasure: Ceramic House Night Lights for a Girl's Room, thrifted from a Christmas Village. | Five Marigolds

You see, my daughter has been requesting we leave lights on at night. I wanted to find a night light that was cute and dim enough for night light status, yet bright enough that she would feel secure at night.  I decided that these charming houses, along with a string of white Christmas lights, would be perfect for our needs.

I love the  look of these Ceramic House Night Lights, but the colors were just a bit country for me. My vision was to spray paint them white, add Christmas lights and call it a a day.

And I totally could leave them this way. I love the way they look in her bedroom. More importantly, so does she.Trash to Treasure: Ceramic House Night Lights for a Girl's Room, thrifted from a Christmas Village. | Five Marigolds

Yes…that may be a Christmas decoration in the background. I’ve been decorating her room early this year. More on that later +  don’t judge.

Here’s how they look at night. So pretty.Trash to Treasure: Ceramic House Night Lights for a Girl's Room, thrifted from a Christmas Village. | Five Marigolds

But I’m wondering…should I add a little something extra to these houses? Maybe white glitter on the rooftops?

Or should I make them more whimsical, painting them in different solid colors – like a blush pink, muted aqua, and mist blue?

Or is the clean, minimalist look the way to go?

I love the houses and because I am a glitter gal I would love the roofs or chimney to have a sparkle of the clear glitter. They are adorable and quite inspiring to see something beyond its original worth. ( I think I feel a blog post coming on)

Darling idea with the tiny houses! Reduce, Reuse, Recycle is outstanding! My thoughts are that you should leave them just as they are. You can always change the colors and add-ons per occasion if you and she desires! Thanks for sharing!
