Family Friendly Living Room Makeover
A reminder: I’m participating in the ‘One Room Challenge’ (ORC), hosted by Linda from Calling It Home, that challenges home and design bloggers to make over a room in their house from start to finish in 6 weeks. We have decided to tackle our living room. Here’s what you missed: The Before and Vision , The Design Plans, Tile and Personalization, and the Wood Wall Installation.
I made it! I somehow made it! Against all odds, starting halfway through the One Room Challenge, I somehow pulled it all off by the skin of my teeth.

Today I put the finishing touches on our family friendly living room, and I have to say…it turned out even better than I’d imagined.
After adding our reclaimed wood wall, the space is light and airy…
But still colorful and comfortable – just the way we like it.
After all, this is where our family gathers, and I wanted it to be welcoming to everyone.
As you can see, I did end up adding my antique curtains. I think they add the perfect pop of color and charm this space needed. Best of all, I love that they have a story.
I also was able to use that vintage fabric I fell in love with, several months back, to make a few pillows.
It all fits perfectly with our existing furniture and scheme, as you can see here.
I have to be honest and share that mirror is just a clumsy placeholder, since we plan to hang our flat screen there. As I mentioned, it’s a family space, and our family needs movie nights!
Oh, and my husband added his big ‘ol leather chair back into the mix after I took these photos. It’s all about finding the right balance between comfort and aesthetics! We are real people living in a real space, after all.
Thank you so much for joining me on this room makeover journey, and to Stikwood, GiftsForYouNow, and Snazzy Decals for their part in bringing my vision to life!
