Soft, chewy Bars with Sweet Cream Cheese Frosting
Hold on to your Halloween party pants, folks. I’ve been wanting to baking these Spooky Sugar Cookie Bars – and they were totally worth the wait!
This treat features a soft, chewy sugar cookie bar topped with the best cream cheese frosting (which is saying a lot, because I’m normally not a cream cheese frosting kinda gal).
I’d originally planned to use refrigerated cookie dough as the base, because I’m lazy. However, that dough was sacrificed in an emergency snack attack earlier in the week (don’t judge). It turned out to be a happy thing, because I improvised by making this amazing recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction, which I modified by using almond extract and losing the sprinkles.
Again, giving credit where credit is due, I used this cream cheese frosting recipe.
An unlikely combo? Yes. But the flavor? Wicked-good.
Yes, they are sugary. But this is why they’re called, “treats,” right? You can eat a bunch of carrots post-Halloween. It will be okay.
What do you think of my Spooky Sugar Cookie Bars? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments below.
